You're the one that I want...

October is a great month in Texas. Sun is still shining and warm down here. Made it to Maroon 5 with the McOmbers - great show. We've been busy watching the Rangers make history and have said goodbye to some good friends that have recently moved away from Dallas.
Halloween was a riot. Trunk or treat event with the ward, killer costumes by Kim, Hans, & co., and a night out with Caitlin at the Glass Cactus. Took us till after midnight to get in, but it was well worth the wait. On my mission, a lot of people told me I looked like John Travolta from Grease; I've heard that a few times recently as well, so enjoy the pics of Danny and Sandy.

It really is a good life

We had the greatest weekend. Friday night we went camping at Ray Roberts Lake-Texas somewhere-with about a dozen friends. It was a riot. I have not laughed so hard in awhile. Tin foil dinners, beer brats, Rolo-marshmallow bananas, s'mores, starbursts, cookies with marshmallows and oreos and starbursts and chocolate and whatever else Hugh and Matt could stack up and stick in the fire. Who even knows what we talked about until 2am. We got busted for a noise violation by the most country park ranger I have ever encountered. Just a grand ol' time overall. We are lucky to have such fun friends here. (Pictures still to come).
Then Saturday, after just a few hours of sleep, we came home. A dip in the pool, some necessary attention to college football, an impulse couples massage, shopping, dinner at an outdoor grocery store cafe with awesome live music...ah, sometimes some serious spontaneity is just what the doctor ordered.

And another wonderful birthday has come and gone. My favorite part is always the phone calls from everyone that I love-so thank you all for that. Hughie and I went out for sushi and then we made a "quick" stop at the McOmber's house, where Kim & Hans and the McOmbers surprised me with a delicious gluten-free cookie pie. Hansen tradition. DELICIOUS!!!!
This is the moment where I honestly believed that the McOmber's got me a puppy. Austin and Drewbie wrapped my gift in a laundry basket and were hinting at it...mean trick. Maybe next year (wink wink). My first little panic about aging this year...24...time flies.

Late Summer Fun

Lake Powell for a weekend. Pretty much our favorite trip ever. New boat, wakeboarding, headaches, cliff jumping, tube wars, ice cream at Dangling Rope, Monopoly Deal, old movies, good company, lightning storms at night, etc. Good times.
Took a trip to Salt Lake in August to go to Sarah and Alex's wedding up in Park City. So nice to be up in the mountains and with family and friends. Gorgeous wedding and venue. The guys in the family did the Jordanelle Tri the next morning. A first for all of us, and a great success. Next year, we may man up and join Jeff for the Olympic distance.

Little Pete's with the McOmbers. Hanging with Austin.
Cowboy's preason vs Raiders. First NFL game ever! We cheered against both teams.
Saw John Mayer at Superpages. Such a great show live. Arguably, the greatest guitarist we've ever seen live. Seriously, go see him in concert if you can. So much fun, and a beautiful evening in Dallas.

Last Week

Last weekend we went to Lake Powell! Heaven on Earth I tell you. And we owe it all to the West's for hosting such a great trip. Seeing family is so satisfying. Great weather, minus some crazy lightning storms at night-which were still really cool. Surfing, wakeboarding, tubing, triathalon training, Monopoly Deal, yummy food, cute Samantha...turns out we didn't take many pictures. I'll try and dig some up.

We snagged $10 tickets to see Aerosmith. Steve Tyler does not age. At 62 his voice still rocks like it did 20 years ago too. Such a great night. Good friends, summer time, live music-it doesn't get much better.

Activities

I guess we have had quite a bit of fun lately. Dallas turns out to be so much fun in the summer. I love walking outside at midnight to 90 degree weather. We're averaging about 100 during the day right now...that coupled with the humidity is a little much without a swimming pool on hand.
Boating this past weekend to train for Lake Powell on Thursday. We are counting down the days!

The Robert Plant concert was awesome. His is such a rockin' performer and his voice is as good as ever. Beautiful venue...great night.

Happy Birthday Hughie!
The big 27. "I'm just coming into my prime," he has been saying that since we met. :) Sushi for dinner and a pool party and BBQ to celebrate on Saturday.

We went to the Dallas Museum of Art for our first activity with the Red Cross. Beautiful exhibit and great live jazz music after.

TIME OFF!

We have had such a fun few weeks. I had 2 weeks off of work and we did so many fun things. Swimming, boating, cycling, movies, friends, a trip to Utah...summer is happiness. This is a picture of my cute husband cleaning his bike. It's "almost" too hot to ride. 100 degrees may be the limit. I went to Utah to visit family for a few days. It's almost harder to go back, I never want to leave. The weather was perfect and those mountains get more beautiful everytime I go. Hanging out with mom, Dane and all my cousins and family was great-and long over due. Lunch with Julia, Natalie, Mads and Samantha at Cheesecake Factory made my day-missed you Britt! Miss these girls. Felt like we were in highschool again. Ha.
Jaybird- "I can't take you girls ANYWHERE!"

God bless America. We had an awesome 4th of July weekend.

We pulled over to watch fireworks on the side of the freeway!

SUMMER

We love summer in Texas! Pool parties, BBQ's, sun...
Somehow it makes it easier to work all week.

A proud wife...

Hugh's work had a dress up like a Guido from "Jersey Shore" day.
Needless to say he won best costume.
He said no one at work recognized him with his hairdo.

Pura Vida

In celebration of our ONE year anniversary we went to Costa Rica.

We hiked through a rainforest to watch lava flowing out of
Volcano Arenal and then lounged in some natural hot springs...

We made it!

Happy 1 year anniversary to us!
We're happy as can be and still crazy about each other.
Here's to year 2 (the year of the husband-according to Hugh).
